After an early Jefferson goal from a corner, Menston put up an outstanding first half performance on a glue pot of a Shaw Lane pitch. Great performances from defensive trio Barker, Casey and Houghton meant that Bingley had few opportunities in the opening 40 minutes while Rangers launched plenty of attacks. Cruelly (what else?), Bingley equalised on the stroke of half time after a penalty had initially been saved by Texel before the ball fell loose and was tapped in.
Menston, reduced in numbers yet again and without any substitutes, understandably tired on the sticky surface in the second half and conceded 2 sloppy goals before Bingley made it 4-1 with an excellent final effort.
