A snow clearing operation lasting most of the morning proved worthwhile as Menston Rangers tore Burley apart in the Quarter Final of the League Cup at St Mary's.
With Menston at almost full strength for the first time in many a week, only Barker missing to injury, the floodgates opened after 5 minutes when Lambertino finished off a superb Imran cross. The always threatening Machell notched a quickfire brace while Cassere opened his Rangers account when the ball bounced off Bates and gave him an opportunity to bury the ball. The half finished 4-0 with Burley denied their best opportunity by a superb last ditch Houghton tackle.
The second half opened in similar style with Ainsworth putting one away expertly after beating his man. 3 further goals followed in the second half, all individual efforts of high quality, from Ainsworth, Lambertino and Holliday-Gomes.
An excellent and confident team performance and the cup dream continues.
