The 3rd in a series of matches between Sutton and Menston ended much as the first 2 had; in heartbreaking loss after a closely fought encounter.
With a team weakened by several absences but boosted by the return of Lowans (E) and Lowans (W), Rangers put up a controlled first half performance, debutant Cassere impressing in midfield alongside an excellent Bates and Boughan. Menston took a deserved lead when Lowans (E) cleverly finished a great team move after an Imran goal had been ruled out. Sutton equalised against the run of play after an innocuous free kick decision and the two sides went into the break all square after Menston had seen an Ainsworth goal disallowed by the referee.
A competitive second half could have gone either way but given Menston's painful run of fortune inevitably went to Sutton who took advantage of a defensive error to take the lead and held on despite plenty of pressure.
If luck evens out during the course of a season Menston are going to have an incredible end to this one.
