Menston ran out worthy winners after a 5-0 defeat of near neighbours and close rivals Horsforth Broncos. An all round team performance from Menston ensured a welcome victory over Horsforth who have proved a bogey side in recent years.
Menston played some excellent attacking football with great interplay and only an inspired performance from the Horsforth keeper prevented a higher margin of victory. The Broncos however showed great spirit and some determined defence throughout to thwart numerous Menston attacks. Menston had to weather a period of second half pressure from the home side that saw a resolute back line maintain a clean sheet.
In the end Menston's superior strength and ability allowed them to take control of the game and end the Bronco's determined resistance. Menston goal scorers on the day were Dhugal Sandground (3) and Harry Brook (2) with Francis Westhead collecting the MoM award.
Well done boys.
